Started (yet another) new game of FFT. D-did you know you can buy up all new generics at the soldier office and RENAME them? I mean, I totally knew, I'm just checking to see if you all did.

So far, our hero James T. (Aries) has made it to Goug Machine City with the help of a constantly rotating team of Bones, Spock, Nyota, Hikaru, and Pavel. (Scotty was there too, but he got dismissed as soon as I got Mustaaaaadio, whose job is "Engineer," come on.) Hikaru is vastly overleveled because he gets every job involving swords.

My ultimate plan:

James T. -- Buttpants
Bones -- Chemist and nothing else, dammit, with White Magic secondary
Spock -- Monk with Time Magic secondary, because he can travel through time and because "Don't Act" is a Vulcan nerve pinch.
Nyota -- Mediator (ponytail? check! melanin? :\)
Scotty -- Mustaaaaadio
Hikaru -- Knight with Two Swords ability. Ninja with Equip Sword ability? Not sure yet.
Pavel -- Calculator

I accidentally marched in the NYC Gay Pride Parade!

See, I work right off Christopher St. in the Village, right? And I'd been moaning and groaning because I had to pick up my paycheck but I was feeling too lazy all weekend. Then I ran out of money and food and began to die, so I grumpily huffed off to work, dragging my roommate along ("it'll be like 45 minutes TOPS").

It was such a nice day we decided to get off at 14th Street and walk a few blocks. The crowd was annoyingly thick, so we did what we always do, which is sidestep the people by walking in the gutter and muttering snobbily about tourists. We didn't notice the barricades keeping us from the sidewalk until it was too late. (Yeah, I mean, there were thousands of people in rainbow gear and drag and body paint, but it's Christopher Street on a summer weekend, come on.)

OOPS, SUDDENLY WE'RE IN A FUKKEN PARADE.

"Be cool," I whispered to my roommate very excitedly, "it's just like the Junon march in FF7."

So we did Cloud's victory pose with the complimentary spank paddles we'd been handed, basked in the cheers like it wasn't a thing, and darted back into the crowd before a cop saw us. We didn't win anything afterwards but a bomb fragment, though.

Also it took three hours to cross the street to get my check, but it was totally worth it.

Change I can believe in.

That was a rather unexpected VIOLENT HEAVE into obsession with 19th-century science fiction. Guess you never know when these things will strike.

So far, H.G. Wells has been near-fully consumed. Verne is next. (I know, wrong order.) And then I suppose I must move on to Asimov, Clarke, Heinlein et. al like my parents before me? I hope not: besides Isaac, they're rather boring.

Thank you, anonyfriends, for all your nice anonymessages, at least one of which really was written by me (can you guess which?).

I think what happened to me was I straight-up, first time in my life, lost all hope in a great many things and so I decided to be eaten up by the giant mold with the Ohmu. Remember this, all one of you (Lina) who read the Nausicaa manga? And even though the Ohmu swallowed me so I would be preserved in its phlegm, my spirit was still on that Nietzschean hill, and the Emperor's goast was smothering me. But my dog, my little furry creature, roused me and I told the goast to BEGONE.

I'm still not in my inner forest yet, to discover the grass and birds and stuff in its center. I'm still walking on that dark old plain strewn with fragments of bone. But my worst time is gone. I think.
